Our beautiful slate tiles come direct from Brazil to our warehouse. This natural stone is a high density, low porosity material which is extremely hard-wearing in any environment, so make sure you choose well as this slate will last for years!
The Brazilian slate has a natural elegance, which can give a contemporary or rustic look to any environment, as floor tiles, wall tiles or as part of a feature. The hand-split and calibrated tiles have straight cut edges, and can be supplied as an individual size, variety of sizes, or as a pattern. They are perfect for any area of your home, kitchen, bathroom, dining room, or for use in your office or garden.
All of our slate is suitable for use with standard or flexible adhesive and grout (depending on the base) and either the LTP Mattstone or Colour Intensifier & Stainblock to retain the matt effect on the original tile, or with the SlateSeal which gives the tile a glossy finish.
The hand-split tiles are taken from the quarry and manually split down so that there are no machining lines on any of the tile, thereby giving the option to lay either side of the tile. In production, the manufacturers aim for a thickness of 10mm, but due to the manual element, the tiles may vary by +/-2mm. One of the major advantages of the hand-split tile is that it is not limited to the maximum machine capacity, and therefore we can produce sheets of slate up to 1200 x 900mm.
The calibrated slate has the same riven finish as the hand-split slate once installed, but the since the product is machine cut, the thickness is guaranteed to be 10mm thick. These are a dream to lay and look stunning installed. The only question you have to ask yourself now is what colour you want...
